I currently started reading Andrew Root’s series called Ministry in a Secular Age. I began the first of 5 with Faith Formation in A Secular Age and then plowed through The Pastor in a Secular Age and do not see myself stopping until I end with his recent and final addition in the series called The Church After Innovation. These are extremely weighty but have found them personally encouraging.
Though I have owned Philip Yancey’s book on Prayer for years, have finally just picked it up and started reading it. Don’t know why I am just now getting to it. If you haven’t read anything from Yancey, I encourage you to do so. Good place to start is What’s So Amazing About Grace or The Jesus I Never Knew.
